Text Box: Pain in the Gas (and diesel) Three years ago we bought our first horses. Sunny and Pepper. Looking back, we realize that they were far from being champions and had “loading issues”. Sunny had ring-bone and Pepper was a sway-back. Since that time, our knowledge of horses has drastically improved. Now we have THREE DIFFERENT horses with championship bloodlines who gladly hop into horse trailers. As our knowledge of horses increased our bank balance decreased! Text Box: Stop Changing Your Oil. Really! By Christal Creel This advice may sound like an Alaskan pipe dream – But it’s true. Most of us know the tried and true 3000 miles between oil changes advice. If you own a vehicle, you either change the oil yourself or take it to the local lube and tune or dealer where you bought it. Then you wait, wait, wait, and pay. Depending on how often you use your vehicle, you’ll turn around and do it again soon. This costs you valuable time, a lot of money during the time you own the vehicle, keeps us dependant on petroleum, and negatively impacts the environment. According to Perdue University Americans throw away enough used motor oil every year to fill 120 supertankers! 185 million gallons of used oil is illegally dumped and 140 million gallons end up in the landfill. One gallon of used motor oil can contaminate 1 million gallons of fresh water – a year’s supply for 50 people. This is where the news get’s good!
